Waterfalls
There’s something undeniably alluring about waterfalls. Maybe it’s their beauty or their power, the grandeur of their surrounds, or their state of perpetual motion. Even their incessant roar can be strangely hypnotic. Whatever it is, the act of compiling this page has reminded me that I ought to visit waterfalls more often and become a little more creative in capturing their mystique!
That’s fine, though - after all, most of the fun is in the challenge. And also in soaking up that enchanted yet spray-saturated atmosphere, ideally without actually getting soaked! :-0

Waters of Arran -
A Portfolio Project (2025)
I must admit, the Isle of Arran already features quite prominently in the opening waterfall highlights presented above. That’s hardly surprising, as we’ve visited this special island every year since 2017. Yet 2025 marked the first time that we’d made our Arran pilgrimage twice in a single calendar year. And more than this, the penny is finally dropping that I love splashing around in tumbling mountain burns, just like I used to do as an excitable wee kid.
It’s tricky to get away with this as a mature adult… unless, of course, you carry a sensible-looking camera and call it a portfolio project! ;-)
Waterfall Archives - The Final Trickle
Given my relative dearth of waterfall-related ‘photoshoots’ (pre-2025, anyway!), I’ve decided to celebrate the watery theme by selecting a few images from the family holiday archives. And yes, it’s true that the pictures from this final section may not be of real ‘portfolio’ quality. If my opening gallery represents a torrent, and this wee interlude is the plunge pool, then what follows is perhaps just the shallow and trickly run-off?
Still, one or two of these shots are exclusives to this page, having been freshly reclaimed from the digital dust. Surely you couldn’t hope for more excitement than that?! :-0
